I increased weight on all the left arm movements today. Progress is happening..

One of the first rules of business is not bad mouthing other systems that “compete” with your own. Sure, I shit-talk and I badmouth CrossFit, but CrossFit isn’t my competition, I don’t train people for increasing work capacity across broad times, blah blah; I train people for sports, lifting, bodybuilding and general aesthetics. I don’t want to be known as the guy who sells out his ideals to make money crossing over to a side I really don’t want much part of and I make that pretty clear.

I do train a couple CrossFitters, but those are guys that want to get stronger first, not train for the Games. I will never train someone specifically for the Games, that is not my area and I don’t want that to be my area, and those guys know my dislike of CrossFit and I do my best to unfuck the fuck job CrossFit workouts do to a person’s body.

Money isn’t everything to me, I don’t charge my clients a lot, I kept my book to a reasonable price instead of selling recycled material for double the price, my online clients pay an affordable fee and their access to me answering questions may be the quickest response time around.

Why? Because I want to, they pay for me, they get their shit answered fast.

I’ve recommended other trainers to people that will be a better fit than I. I’ve told people to buy 5/3/1 over my program if that is a better fit for them. Part of this business is that NO ONE SYSTEM IS PERFECT FOR EVERYONE.

I’ve done Westside type training as a raw lifter with a very dedicated training partner who bought in fully to my interpretation of it for our needs and we trained fucking hard. Our sessions were about 60-90 minutes tops, we timed sets, we timed rest periods, we even timed the speed of our lifts to assess when we should stop an exercises. We had some awesome results.

Lifts went up, work capacity went up and I was handling previous PR’s with ease.

What does this rant mean?

It means the dogmatic bullshit adherence to one system is just that, bullshit. My system isn’t for everyone, you may buy the book, use it for 6 months and move on to something new and that is fine by me. You may buy my book, use it and tell me it sucks. That is ok too, its not the be-all-end-all of a training program and I fully accept that as a coach.

Same goes for everything and everyone else, if you are knocking another system to push your own, you are doing your readership, your clients and yourself a disservice by learning what else is out there.

We are coaches, support each other in knowledge. You never know who you can learn from and who can learn from you.
