Nobody is perfect.
Shit, I sure the hell am not.
I look back on my life and can count the number of mistakes I have made on both hands a couple times over. Without going into details about them all, trust me there are plenty.
None of us who reach my age (38) go through life unscathed. From deaths, births, heartaches, heart found, jobs lost, moments of victory etc.. Each moment has an indelible effect on you and those around you. From the good and the bad life has to offer, each of those moments will shape you for the future years. Embrace them, they are what makes us unique.
The key to all of this is to step forward. Life is far too short to step backwards. You either fight or you die. Not in the literal sense, but as Paul Carter says “Death is winning, Do something”. Take chances, follow that beating heart even if the head is scared, fear is just a simple fleeting emotion. Overcoming that is telling it you are better than that simple emotion. We are strong, we survive, our species lived through wars, famine, pestilence, everything this world can throw at us… surely we can break through walls of fear.
Mistakes are a part of life, living is a part of life. One thing I always prided myself on is living. I had a lot of roadblocks along the way, some self-inflicted, some out of my control, but I always find a way to climb those walls. What choice do I have? The options are two “do or don’t”. I had plenty of don’ts in my life in the past, the do’s are here to stay.
I plan to attack the last days of my life head on, face first, jumping into the deep end of the pool and taking the risks involved with it. I can’t take my life with me to the other side, I don’t plan on leaving behind a fortune to be divvied up among my peers who are salivating over my will. When its done, its done.
Life is too short to not take chances, life is too short to not live to the fullest. Whatever your path you choose; career, anything… you need to take those risks and not look back and say “what if I did that”. Someday there will not be a chance to say what if. That is when you know death won. Fuck death, fuck contentment…. rise up and live.
Ponder that as you all sleep tonight.
